Does
"Quitting Ahead" Online - Or Offline - Make Any
Sense At All?
The mavens advising
you to quit while you're ahead say, "Don't give back
money you've already won - just take down the win and leave."
But this makes sense only if you quit playing poker entirely.
If you intend never to play poker again, quitting ahead
does guarantee you'll pocket today's profit. But that's
not very realistic, is it?
So if you quit winners
today and lose tomorrow, are you any worse off than if you'd
simply played on, losing what you'd won earlier in the session?
Of course not. You're no worse off at all. What possible
difference does it make if today's winnings rest on top
of your bureau overnight if you intend to play poker tomorrow,
or the day after, or even next year?
