A
poker game would be hopelessly tight if players could
sit at the table and receive hands without ever being
required to put anything in the pot. There are two
methods for seeding the pot to induce action. Blinds.
First, you can force a player (or players) to make
the first bet(s). This forced bet is called a blind.
Blinds are appropriate for games in which the betting
order is fixed by position, such as Texas Hold'em
and Omaha, because as the deal rotates, each player
has to take his turn paying blinds. Think of blinds
as payments from a player for seeing a round of hands. |
