House Advantage

Thus we see the doubling, splitting and standing decisions are crucial and the best way to gain insight into some of them is to look at a chart of the dealer's busting probabilities.

Up Card 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 T A
% Chance
of Bust 35 38 40 43 42 26 24 23 21 11

Note that most of the aggressive actions, like doubling and splitting, are taken when the dealer shows a small card, and these cards bust most often overall, about 40% of the time. incidentally, we feel the quickest way to determine if somebody is a bad player is to watch whether his initial eye contact is with his own, or the dealer's first card. The really unskilled function as if the laws of probability had not yet been discovered and seem to make no distinction betien a five and an ace as dealer up card.

The Tight-Aggressive Player
Someone holding J-10 would call a loose-aggressive player very quickly here, but might decide to let it go against a tight-aggressive player.

Even if someone with J-10 calls on the flop, if the turn card doesn't help his hand and you bet again, he might decide to give up. Whether this will happen depends a great deal on your playing style, your opponent's playing style, and whether your opponent is aware of your playing style. It's harder to steal this pot against a loose player (which means it's harder to steal this pot in an Internet game!).
