The KISS Card Count

What percentage of all the Online Blackjack Games players would you say play reasonably sound basic strategy? Maybe 25%? And what percentage are card counters? I'm sure it's well under 1%. Why such a difference? I don't have to tell you it's because counting cards is much more demanding than just playing basic strategy. Yet, memorizing your basic strategy chart to a tee still can't give you the advantage in the game -- but counting just some of the cards can if you do things right.

The Ace/10 Front Count (from page 7) was an extremely basic and borderline approach to winning play. If it had been placed here in the thick of the card counting section, players who don't wish to become card counters would probably never see it. But I wanted serious basic strategy players to at least have an introductory glimpse at what advantage play is about. As you know, the name of the game is to:

[ 1 ][ 2 ][ 3 ][ 4 ][ 5 ][ 6 ][ 7 ]

Before It tan End with Money, It Must Start with Money

An entry fee can be as much as 30 percent of the buy-in for very small tournaments (for example, a $10 buy-in event might use a $3 entry fee). Usually the entry fee falls somewhere between S percent and 10 percent of the buy-in. A $500 buy-in tournament would commonly require an entry fee of $40 (8 percent).

With rare exceptions (such as the Shooting Stars tournament at San Jose, California's Bay 101), tournament directors don't know how many entrants they will get to any given tournament until the moment the tournament begins (which is usually when registration closes). Occasionally in large events, anyone who is in line when registration closes will still be allowed to enter.
