Few Key Cards
 

Adding a few more cards to the list improves the results less than the first few -- and adding even more cards improves things still less. The thing of it is, you really don't need to track that many cards to gain a valuable advantage in the game!

That's where the KISS Count comes in. It stands for; "Keep It Simple, Stupid". You see, you can actually gain most of that 11/4% shift by tracking only half the cards in the deck or shoe -- if you follow the right cards. According to my computer simulation runs involving roughly two billion hands, the KISS Count can convert a 1/2% six deck basic strategy disadvantage into a 1/2% net edge! And it does so by counting exactly half the cards that get dealt out.

Here's how the KISS Count works. We already know that in Online Blackjack Games. some cards affect the odds of the game more than others. Now, the three most significant low cards in Online Blackjack Games are the 4, the S and the 6 Among high cards, the 10's and Aces are all vital -- but you can get a fairly good read on what's happening just by following the most obvious high ones, like the picture cards for example. If you're not going all out for maximum gain, you can afford to ignore the 10-spots and the Aces along with several other less important cards. In addition, the KISS Count employs one other "automating" feature (explained later) which makes it more user friendly at the expense of minimal accuracy. The following graphic lays out the KISS Count in visual form:

So that's 31/2 ranks of low cards you'll need to follow along with 3 ranks of high cards. The rest, you can forget. The most popular counting systems out there today keep track of 10 or 11 ranks. In doing so, they are about 97% efficient at recognizing advantageous deck compositions (this is called a system's "betting correlation'). The KISS Count has a 79% betting correlation. So by monitoring the distribution of about 60% as many cards as a full scale count system, the KISS Count is about 80% as efficient. That's what is meant by "rapidly diminishing returns".

Raising and Be Careful What You Say
 
Raising
A raise must be at least the size of the bet. For example, if in a 1-4 game I bet $4 and you want to raise, you must raise by $4. If I had bet $2, then you could raise by $2, $3, or $4. You cannot make a $2 raise if the original bet was $4.

Be Careful What You Say
Verbal declarations usually count. "Call and raise" is the verbal equivalent of a string bet and, in some cardrooms, if you say this before you put your chips in the pot you will be limited to a call.
